pretty

(All photos from Sweet Home Style)

These photos are inspiring me today :) I have been thinking about the type of theme (so to speak) that I would like to eventually have in my future home, and I believe what I would like most is a sort of rustic, woodsy, earthy feel. I'm talking log cabin. I want antlers on the wall, a fire place, worn wooden furniture and metal accents. Lots of earth tones and white fabrics. I don't know how well we'll be able to manage all this on a student's budget, but eventually is the operative word here.

Things that have been inspiring me lately are crafting! Anything and everything. I have been keeping a journal for Cade, doodling down little thoughts and feelings daily. I am giving it to him when I can see him again. Here are a few pages:

Yes, it is corny, I know. But I love it :)

I have been dying to learn how to knit, crochet and embroider. I have bought knitting needles, and started attempting to knit a scarf, but I just don't know if I am doing it right. My stitches are huge and mismatched, and none of them are the same size. I'm either doing it poorly, but correctly... or just completely wrong. I am hoping to get a crochet hook and another skein of yarn to take down to the beach with me next week so I can practice on my vacation. I also want to try my hand at embroidering. If only I had an unlimited supply of income to fund these endeavors!

I hope that one day I can become good enough at crocheting to try making an amigurumi. I have been reading blogs and tutorials about them for a while now, and they seem like they are fairly easy to complete if you are basically skilled with crocheting.

I found this recipe on Kitty Genius and I think I'm going to try making it on Friday (my day off). I don't cook very often, but this seems simple (and delicious) enough for me to attempt. I'll let you know how it goes :)

  1. hello!

your blog is super cute as well. i'm following!

i'm dying to learn how to knit and crochet, but i am SO terrified. it seems so complicated!

embroidery is pretty easy. it's frustrating when a knot appears OUT OF NOWHERE, and when there are tangles, but otherwise it's pretty relaxing (and a super easy way to make things cute).
